Last week, I met someone for coffee that lives in the LA area. We connected right away.
From our creative projects, to our entrepreneurial spirit to the things we find important, we had so much in common.
“Where are you from originally,” she asked.
I responded, “I’m local! I was born and raised here in the area.”
She looked surprised and said, “Oh, I was sure you were from the West Coast!”
I’ll be honest, sometimes I feel a little out of place here. In the midst of the hustle, I’m trying to slow down. In a place where we fight to climb to the top, I’m happy right where I am.
Not that I’m complacent or lazy. That’s not true at all. But I’m learning to not care so much about what others think, or how people think I should dress, or why everyone is running this race while I’m over here smelling the flowers.
I find myself with a more west coast/LA attitude, feeling carefree, translating into my laid-back style.
These photos taken by my friend Jahns are giving me all the LA feels, even though it’s set in DC. That’s what I love about life - you can take a little bit of somewhere you love wherever you are.
