The perfect pair of cognac sandals. A closet staple I'd been searching for - for what seems like - years. Not just a cute pair...but a comfortable pair of cognac sandals. With a block heel. I thought it was something of my imagination, to be honest, until I found the Joie Bea sandal.
The love story started last summer, when I visited the new Joie store in Tysons Galleria. I had tried on almost the entire store when a store associate brought me the Bea Sandal to try on with my outfit. After putting it on, I couldn't stop remarking how comfortable the shoe was. Like - to an obsessive degree. If you know me, you know that comfort is one of the pillars of my style...so finding something that was chic, comfortable and well-made sometimes finding a needle in a haystack.
But that day, I didn't take them home with me. I put them on the back burner due to their higher-than-I-wanted-to-pay price tag. I thought about them the entire summer, and well into this Spring.
Enter this summer. I had thought about it for the PAST YEAR, and I had to have them, regardless of cost. And to my surprise, I found them on sale on the Nordstrom Rack website. WHAT WAS MY LUCK?! But they only had a size down from my regular size...I gambled and took the chance.
Unfortunately, when they arrived, they were just a TAD too small. I don't want to say I had a MELTDOWN...but let's just say I was not the best version of myself that day. I called Nordstrom Rack and asked if they had any way to track down the shoes in my size. After the kindest woman ever checked around all stores within a 200-mile radius, she said no one had them in my size. Cue the broken-heart soundtrack.
But I didn't give up! I called the Joie store, and essentially, begged them to check all their stores across the country for the sandals. (When it comes to shopping, I rarely take 'no' for an answer!) The guy helping me put me on a brief hold, and when he came back, he told me they had a pair left in one of their California locations. IT WAS FATE. I immediately called the store in LA, chatted with their store associate for quite some time, and ordered the shoes (which were on sale for 50%!)
They arrived a week later with the most darling note from the store associate I talked with, and I've been wearing them ever since. Do you guys have any great shopping stories? I'd love to hear them!!
