Good morning! I am very excited to bring you the latest installment of our Instagram Guide to DC: Georgetown edition...

Hi friends! Keeping it short and sweet today - I'm heading somewhere WARM for the next few days because I *literally can't even* with this cold weather.
"But this winter isn't even that bad!"
Don't judge me. I'm allergic to cold weather. Even if that cold weather is really only about 30 degrees. I am so over it. (And while we're at it, I'm over being in D.C. for all the reasons.)
So where am I heading? The super sunny state of FLORIDA! Follow along on Instagram for daily outfits and tons of beachy goodness.

Veteran’s Day + Election Thoughts
I’d like to take a moment to thank all the men and women who have fought tirelessly for this country. I never had enough courage to join the military, so I have an endless amount of respect and gratitude for everything you’ve done to keep this country afloat. (Be sure to check out my post last year on ways you can thank a vet!)
I’m grateful for the freedoms we all are able to enjoy - and by “we all,” I mean every muslim, Christian, black, hispanic, disabled, women and man - that make up this country. Didn’t our forefathers intend for this country to be a great place to live for everyone?
There has been a great divide that we can’t ignore any longer. And today it feels more divided than ever before. This election did a number on me - unlike any other before it. And I’d like to take a few stands and make a few promises to you today.
While we have the freedom of speech, I will stand against anyone who berades, abuses verbally or ignorantly tells another human being to ‘go back to where they came from.’ It will not be allowed in my presence. I am not ok with hate speech in any way, shape or form. I don’t care if it is your right. That does not make it all right. My grandfather, an immigrant from Greece, fought for our country and I will fight too. Not with arms, but with words. Loved this piece by Mashable on what to do if you hear hate speech happening.
I also want you to know that over the years, I’ve become quite the hippie. Not in what I wear, although I do love a good bell sleeve, but within my heart. If you need a hug, I’m here. If you feel like mourning, I will do so with you. I will not only pray for you, but treat you as Jesus treated others - and fight for the forgotten, as He did. I won’t tell you how to feel or not to feel. Don’t we each deserve that at the very least? Whether you agree or not, we all have the right to feel the way we want. Can’t we all just have a bit of compassion to both sides of the aisle?
Anyway - that’s where I am…let’s all love each other a bit deeper this weekend...take time to listen, and take time be kind to others.

Week in Review - Vol. 6
Phew - thank goodness for 4-day work weeks. I say we make this a habit, shall we? IF ONLY!
We spent last weekend in Orlando (see my weekend snaps here!) so getting back into the swing of things was hard. Luckily, there were lots of fun things I had planned for the week ahead!
Wednesday I met up my friend, Leah, for a little shopping trip in Georgetown. We grabbed a quick bite at Chaia then popped over to a few of my favorite local shops, Lynn Louisa! I picked up some sassy shorts that I can’t wait to show you soon!
Later that evening, I attended the opening of the new Blue Mercury shop in Cathedral Commons and got to meet the company’s founders, Marla and Barry Beck! I got some great skincare secrets that I’ll be sharing on the blog next week! In the meantime, be sure to check out their new location at Cathedral Commons at 3320 Wisconsin Ave., NW.
While at the Blue Mercury event, I snagged a few of my favorite products - their M-61 makeup remover (the best one I’ve tried so far!) and the Oribe Supershine Cream. Friends, it’s an investment, I know. But after using up my sample size version of this, I knew I had to go ALL IN. It’s the only way I survive the summer humidity and the winter static-hair syndrome.
Inspiring read of the week - this post by the Be. Bangles founder will make you realize you’re worth more than you give yourself credit for.
This weekend will be ALL ABOUT the gardening. In case you didn’t know, I’m a little old lady at heart. We’ll be planting zucchini, summer squash, spinach, heirloom tomatoes, cilantro, thyme, basil, and more. As long as it doesn’t rain.
Are you addicted to the farmer’s market? Then you won’t want to miss this post where I share my tips on how to make the most of your trip!
Fleece-Lined Leather
My latest obsession? Fleece-lined EVERYTHING. I wear fleece tights every single day to work. It essentially feels like I’m wearing out-in-public-appropriate sweatpants - is there anything better than that? No, there is not.
While fleece tights can be a great way of staying warm, I don’t want to wear tights all the time. So you can guess how thrilled I was to find another fleece-lined staple at one of my favorite local shops, Take 5 Boutique! Fleece lined faux leather pants. YESSS.
You know how something is a staple? When you don’t know how you ever lived without it. And these, my friends, are my winter staple. With these 30-degree days (and it’s only getting colder, folks) they’ve been the most fashionable godsend. Ever.
