What is it about visiting the city of love (or is it the city of lights?) that has me swooning over Parisian fashion lately? Is it the way the French women carry themselves? Is it the way they look disheveled yet put together all at the same time?
I’ve fallen in love with all things French since visiting a few weeks ago, and especially with one of my new favorites brads from Paris, Sezane.
I visited their store in Paris and it was just as dreamy as the photos. High ceilings, wood floors, little snacks for the hungry customers, the coziest sweaters, the most darling accessories, shoes for days…
Even their store associates were impossibly chic. One in particular stole my heart with her curly hair and kind demeanor. We chatted a bit at the checkout counter - about their New York store opening, and she gave me a few recommendations for a great cheese spot.
She asked if I had a maps app so she could input the address of the cheese spot for me. I winced, and said my phone was about to die (iPhone users, you feel me, right?!) and had to save my battery for getting in touch with my husband who was dropping off our rental car. To be honest, I was feeling a bit anxious over the fact that I was in a foreign country with an almost-dead phone, unable to be reached.
“Oh, here, let me charge it for you,” she said.
Those words meant more to me then than they ever have before.
As she charged my phone in her desk, I waited on the velvet couch. She brought me coffee, and I read through their beautiful coffee table books as I waited.
Before this day, I had adored Sezane already, from their shoes and tee I’m wearing in this shoot to their incredible selection of cozy knits, their pieces always fit seamlessly into my closet.
But something special happens when you have a personal experience with a store like I did with the sales associate…because for me, it’s SO OFTEN about the people. The way they make you feel when you walk in, they kindness they share in passing, the way they’ll go out of their way to let you charge your phone in a pinch…
Sezane, je t'aime.
