I’ve found my happy place.
It lies far outside the city, in a land where it doesn’t smell like dump trucks as you step outside your house. Instead, the sweet, sweet smell of freshly cut grass, and hay. Sometimes a rouge skunk smell, but for the most part, heavenly.
It’s called Field of Flowers. And it’s exactly what it sounds like.
Now, let’s also be realistic for a moment. This is not Provence - there are not sprawling fields as far as the eye can see dotted with an unimaginable amount of colors.
But it’s SO lovely. And there are an abundance of the prettiest flowers you’ve ever seen. The experience of being there is the best. The space is incredibly inspiring, and it brings this crazy sense of peace.
A few tips for visiting:
Bring cash (the prices depend on size, $10, $15, and $30 I think!) It’s an honor system here so make sure you have the exact amount to leave.
Don’t JUST pick the flowers. Get a little greenery. It makes a bouquet look so much prettier with a little of that thrown in for good measure.
This is not the grocery store, and there may be bugs on your flowers that you take into your car as you bring them home. Just letting you know so you’re not freaked out when the bugs start coming out in the car haha! (It’s not that bad though.)
Field of Flowers is located at 37879 Allder School Rd, Purcellville, VA 20132
