Serious question here: do I really have to stop wearing all my white dresses after labor day?
Everyone is like, oh hooray Fall has arrived with their pumpkin spice lattes and chunky sweaters. Meanwhile I’m over here with a sleeveless blouse walking out the door without a jacket with 50-degree mornings with an iced latte because I CAN NOT ACCEPT THAT SUMMER IS OVER.
Mentally, I’m just not there. I mean, it’s not even cold yet - how’s a girl supposed to get over summer when it’s not even over?!
And - the white dresses thing - I’ve FINALLY found a few perfect white dresses for summer and all of a sudden society is all, ‘oh you can’t wear them anymore’ like, EXCUSE ME WHY NOT?!
Also - who made this rule? Like what crazy person decided white was just not cool after a certain date? Like STYLE has an expiration?
To be honest…I’m afraid it’s more than just the ‘you can’t wear white after labor day’ thing. I think that’s just a trigger for me…a sign that summer, and all the things that make it so beautiful, are coming to an end.
Picnics in the yard, wine on the porch after work, pool parties with my favorite babes, long evening walks with my dog in the sunshine, watermelon, peaches, non-stop ice cream consumption….how can anyone expect me to let that go?
Verdict: I won't let it go. At least, not until it's absolutely necessary. ;)
