As I’ve come to grow into my own style, I’ve noticed something. Given my more minimal approach to most outfits, I typically enjoy wearing high-quality basics…not always the most complimented pieces (how many compliments can one get one a white blouse with wide-leg trousers?)

But these shorts are another story. Every time I wear them, people LOVE to ask about them. I wore them out to dinner one evening, and while my hubby brought around the car, a woman stopped me to compliment my outfit. “I just need to say how lovely and put together you look - your hair (which I had just gotten cut, thanks to the mighty Nadine Matar), your shorts - everything is just perfect.”

It was MAYBE the loveliest compliment anyone has ever given to me.

The next day by the pool, when I wasn’t even wearing the shorts, a woman called me over.

“Hon, you know those shorts you wore the other day? With the tassels? MY - you looked like you were having SOME FUN in those.”

She then continued to reference “the day I looked like I was having so much fun” the next few times I saw her. For a piece of clothing to do that for someone is pretty amazing.
