Over the past few weeks (let’s be honest - it’s been months), I’ve felt deeply discouraged when I visit any news website or turn on the TV. This world is a crazy place to live, and at times it really gets me down.
But the deeper I go into the rabbit hole, the easier is to slide further down at a faster rate. Do you ever feel this way?
I invite you to join me in a focus shift that I’ve been trying to do these past few months. I’m not saying ignore the news, or to let injustice slide. Not at all. But I do think that it has to be balanced with a little positivity.
Instead of: The blossoms have all basically died
Try: The sweet smell and blush tone of the minimalist blossoms inspire me
Instead of: I can’t believe I’m stuck in the office all day
Try: Maybe I’ll pop out for a minute to feel the sunshine on my face, or for a super quick workout in our office gym
We grew up with my dad telling us that happiness was a choice. While it was definitely the most annoying thing that anyone could say in the midst of an argument, I’ve learned that he was right. While circumstances aren’t always ideal, our attitude doesn’t have to match it.
I invite you to find joy in the little things today. Never stop seeking out gratefulness, perspective, and the sunshine.
