In the DC area, we have 3 phases of cold weather…
1. The Leather Jacket Phase
For some reason, this is always the shortest, yet my favorite. It lands somewhere around early Fall, and should be taken advantage of as soon as the temps dip below 60 degrees.
2. The Pea Coat Phase
This one has started early for me this year, and lasts a bit longer than the Leather Jacket phase. You’re going from Fall to early winter with high intentions of looking your best, and staying warm. This gorgeous navy pea coat was my go-to all last year, and have already brought it back this year.
3. The Puffy Coat Phase
This is what I’d like to call, “Lord have mercy!” weather. It’s that mid-to-late winter phase where you essentially go into survivor mode and wear as many clothes as you possibly can on top of each other, giving one an oopma-loompa appearance AT ALL TIMES.
This year we had a bit of an Indian summer in DC. Because of that, I’ve been slow to put together my cold-weather outfits appropriately.
But this combo has been on heavy rotation through these Fall days. Mini skirt + fall boots + tank/tee + incredible leather jacket = a recipe for Fall OOTD success.
I'm gonna let you in on a little secret - are you ready?
MOST of this look were consignment finds. This silk tank top that runs full price at AYR for $165? I got on consignment for $30. This Anine Bing blush jacket ran full price for around $1,000 - I paid $300. This bag? Was sold out online, but I found on eby for under $200.
What can I say? I'm a bargain hunter.
These boots have been such a Fall essential and currently craving all things Alias Mae since being introduced to the brand. You can find their shoes at Revolve!
