Little Victories

May 26, 2015 Julien Garman

Over the past month, I’ve embarked on a clean eating journey. I haven’t talked about it much because I wasn’t sure if I’d see results or if it was felt like just another diet. So now that I’ve been doing it a month, I’m ready to share!

I just finished the 28 Day Challenge with the Fit Girls Guide. I started it because I know I needed to change the way I was eating. My coworker was trying Fit Girls, and I didn’t want to fork out the money for DVDs, shakes and food containers for other programs. I wanted something that made my life better and more convenient even. It was only $20 for the Fit Girls Guide PDF, which included meal plans (with adjustments), a workout plan and over 2 million girls encouraging each other on instagram. So I gave it a try.

YOU GUYS. This is going to sound immensely cheesy, but I feel like I’m finally becoming the best version of myself again. I’ve been following the workouts (most days oops!) and clean eating every day. And the food is so stinking good. Literally doesn’t even feel like I’m eating healthy. There’s pita pizzas, roasted veggies with brown rice bowls, pumpkin lasagna, I MEAN, SO MUCH YUMMY FOOD.

Ok, this was totally not supposed to turn into a promo for this clean eating thing, but I had to let you in on the reason I’m wearing this dress. BECAUSE IT FINALLY FITS AGAIN! It’s been two years since I’ve fit comfortably into it. Shawn got it for my birthday yearsssss ago, and it’s been sitting in my closet after a few rough winters of eating crockpot mac and cheese on repeat.

So today, let’s celebrate little victories. Like dresses fitting once more and sunshine finally making its way back into our lives. Cheers!

Edgy

May 22, 2014 Julien Garman

I've been wearing a lot of girly getups lately (see here, here and here.) So a few weeks ago when I went down to Richmond for my sister-in-law's graduation, I opted for a fun and edgy look. The heels were comfy enough to do some downtown exploring and the backpack was the perfect way for me to lug around all my camera gear.

What do you think? Do you prefer edgy or girly?

On Julien: Top, Anthropologie (similar here.) Shorts, Martin & Osa (similar 80s style here and more structured here) Boots, Luxury Rebel. Backpack, Neiman Marcus Last Call. Chain necklace, thrifted (similar here.) Earrings, She’s Unique. Sunnies, Michael Kors.

Festival in the City

April 25, 2014 Julien Garman

While we couldn’t make it out to Coachella this year, my sister and I went to a different festival to celebrate - the cherry blossom festival! DC becomes a madhouse this time of year - tourists and locals alike flock to the tidal basin to watch the blossoms blow in the wind and take their chances at trying to get a photograph without 20,000 people in the background. The traffic is nuts, the drivers are ruthless, and parking? Forget about it.

But you know what? It is totally worth the hype.

My sister Stephanie was in town, so she dressed up in her festival best and we braved the crowds to snap a few photos amidst the madness. While my style is more classic, Steph has a laid-back, hippy-chic with a bit of romantic edginess approach to fashion, which I love. That, mixed with the most beautiful time of year in DC, made for a perfect festival in the city.

On Stephanie: Dress, Anthropologie. Bag, Fossil (similar here.) Belt, Anthropologie (similar here.) Boots, Target (similar here.) Necklace, unknown (similar from Nordstrom here.) Bracelets, unknown (similar from Nordstrom here.) Watch, Fossil. Ring, W Salon.
