It's no secret that I'm a skincare fanatic. As I pass another birthday in my late 20s, coming very near to the big 3-0, I'm focusing heavily on preventive maintenance. But I’ll admit, I didn’t take great care of my skin growing up...from working as a lifeguard for two summers to the crows feet I've gathered around my eyes, I have started to realize that maybe it’s time to start looking for remedies for my not-so-careful skincare past.
I started searching online for a non-invasive way to get rid of my crows feet, and lots of dermatologists recommended LED treatments. They are often used to rejuvenate skin through stimulating collagen, thus shrinking pores, improving texture, tightening the skin, making it look younger and fresher. The only problem? My insanely busy schedule. How could I get to a skincare facility often enough to make it effective?
So when Dr. Dennis Gross invited me to check out their SpectraLite EyeCare Pro (an at-home solution that only takes 3 minutes a day), I had to try it for myself. First of all - Dr. Dennis Gross is a certified dermatologist focusing on helping men and women maintain youthful, natural skin. His team has been lauded by the likes of Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle (and more), so I was already excited about trying it out before it even arrived. And after reading reviews online, 97% of people saw visible improvement in their skin after 10 weeks, and many saw improvements in as little as two weeks. Still, I’d never tried anything like this before so there were a lot of unknowns: Was it as easy as it looked? Would I be able to figure this out? Could it really only take 3 minutes?
When the box containing the SpectraLite EyeCare Pro arrived, I opened it immediately. The sooner I can get this party started, the sooner I can start having baby-smooth skin, right?
The SpectraLite EyeCare Pro definitely looks like something out of the future. I imagined it fitting very well into a Black Mirror episode, complete with a scenario in which all of earth realizes that this is the key to youthful skin and it becomes an instant phenomenon.
I plugged in the SpectraLite EyeCare Pro into my USB wall adapter (where I normally plug in my phone) and went about my evening. Before bed, I washed my face and got ready to experience the magic. I unplugged it from the wall and put on the adjustable head strap. It’s more comfortable than I thought it’d be, and I was excited to learn that the start button lasts exactly three minutes. I didn’t have to worry about timing the exposure at all on my end. I just press the button, and it goes for three minutes, then turns off. THAT’S IT.
I pressed the start button and a bright red light surrounded my eyes. It was definitely bright enough to distract me from doing an activity, so I used it as an opportunity to take a little 3-minute breather. In retrospect, I wonder, why don’t I do this all the time? Why don’t I just close my eyes and REST more often? When we’re going, going, going, throughout the day, sometimes that break is 1000% needed.
The light felt normal against my skin, definitely not too hot at all. My face tingled a bit, but I had no irritation after. After three minutes, the device automatically turned off, and I continued with my nighttime skincare routine.
You guys, this was extremely easy to use. And if it means having beautiful skin for the rest of my life, then I can devote 1/480 of my day to using the SpectraLite EyeCare Pro. I’ve only been trying this for a few days, so be sure to tune back into my Instagram Stories to hear all about the progress! (If the results are anything like the rave reviews, I’m in good hands!)
