Nautical in the City

If I had to pick one style of clothing to wear for the rest of my life, I would hands-down pick nautical. It reminds me of summers spent in Charleston and winter breaks on Marco Island.

In celebration of Spring (FINALLY!), I dressed up a nautical outfit to be office appropriate by adding a bit of classy headband sparkle, a chic spring clutch, a few of my fave delicate jewels from She’s Unique, and short booties because these feet haven’t seen a pedicure in weeks. Also, my baby curls came out to play as a result of the humid temperatures…but I’d take them over the cold weather any day!

How are you celebrating the arrival of Spring?

On Julien: Skirt, Phillip Lim for Target (similar here.) Shirt, One A (similar here.)  Brooklyn Foldover Clutch by K.Slademade. Necklace and earrings, She's Unique. Boots, DSW. Sunnies, Michael Kors (similar here.) All photos taken by the fabulous Amanda of 2 Girls in 2 Cities!

One of my favorite affordable statement jewelry lines, Love Juliet, is having a humongous sale and just knew I had to tell you about it. But rather than tell you, I'll just show you my fave pieces. They're making room for the new spring line and guess who gets to benefit? You do, you lucky dog, you! (Well, me too because I def had to buy this Petra necklace (#1 seen below.)

Shop on, friends.

5 Reasons to Love Crystal Couture

On the first day of Crystal Couture, my sister and I braved the bad weather to hit up one of the D.C. area's most talked-about fashion shows and high-end bargain pop-up shops.

This was my first year attending the show, and the event did not disappoint. I like to keep things short and sweet, so I'm going to let you in on my five reasons you should totally go this year.

1. It's free. I mean, do you really need another reason?

2. It's a chance to find a new BFF / meet local designers. I had SUCH a blast meeting people who designed the clothes I coveted and hearing about what inspired them for their collections.

Seen here, my new BFF and scarf soul mate, Jennifer Elizabeth Miller of JEM Collection.

3. To shop. This one is totally obvious, but don't let the term 'designer' shy you away. There are so many discounts you get just by attending and many pieces are within an average girl's budget.

Seriously, how chic are these Sophie Blake jewels?

I am OBSESSED with this D'Milikah skirt. Obsessed might even be an understatement.

4. To discover upcoming trends. Chic and structured pieces are hitting the runway hard, as are pastels, bright colors and bold prints. Check these out first hand by watching the models strut down the square runway (so no matter where you are, you have a great view). Plus, with a new show every 15 minutes, you'll get to see a super wide variety of what's coming up for 2014.

5. To take advantage of their awesome photo booth. I don't really need to explain this one, except to say that the OnomonoMEDIA photobooth can print your high-res image and you can also email it to yourself or post directly to your social media page. See mine below (and please note how mature I am.)

My Virginia

I LOVE Virginia.

Yes, the traffic is out of control, but it's my home. And once you take an exit off those car-filled highways, you'll find why I love it so much.

Throughout this blog, I'll be sharing a few of my favorite spots, recipes, outfits and more! You never know, you might even spot a giveaway or two!

I'm dedicating my first post to my favorite state by sporting this lovely, gold-plated Virginia necklace from She's Unique in Alexandria. The hubs and I drove out in our little Subie to the quaint town of Warrenton and explored with our pup. And my baby curls came along for the ride. Enjoy!

On Julien: Dress, GAP. Bangles, JCREW. Chevron ring, W Salon. Sandals, handmade in Positano, Italy. Necklace, She's Unique. Glasses, Michael Kors. Earrings courtesy of an adorable little jewelry stand at the NYC Christmas market.
