Weekend Snaps

After a long weekend away, we're finally home! We took a few days and visited my little sister down at her place in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Couldn't help but snap a few (hundred) photos of our adventures and share a few notable places we visited with you!

Debarge Winery: Stop in for a post-8-hour-drive tasting (or three.)

Beast and Barrel: They lit a drink on fire and I may or may not have had two orders of their thai coconut curry popcorn.

Maple Street Biscuits: FINALLY found a place that serves killer mushroom gravy. This was probably my favorite stop in our whole trip. Also pour a little maple syrup on those biscuits and gravy. Thank me later.

Falls Creek Falls: Only one of the prettiest, most fun waterfalls ever. The hike to get down to the waterfall base? TREACHEROUS. You need cables to get down the 45 degree hill. But it's worth it. 

Revelator Coffee: Some of the best espresso I've ever had. The 6 oz was soo so so good.

Southside Social: Bowling, corn hole and ping pong. Plus the most incredible brie bites that ever existed? Never wanted to leave. 

Velo Coffee Roasters: Stopped by to try their nitro coffee (aka the coffee of the future!) No frills, just great coffee.

Vacation Snaps

I'm baaacckkk! After 5 relaxing days in the sunshine date, I was "welcomed" back home to a snowstorm. Just what I was hoping for...said no one who just got back from the beach ever. 

We made our annual trip to the Ft. Myers area last Friday to visit my Papou. As he gets older (can't believe he's 94!), I appreciate these trips more and more. While most of my past trips consisted of trips to Costco, Cracker Barrel, and Winn Dixie, this one was spent soaking in the sun, eating out and relaxing on the porch with my kindle in hand. Needless to say, it was just what the doctor ordered. Holiday Snaps

I've been pretty quite over here since Christmas, so I wanted to fill you in on a few fun things that happened over the holiday!

Before we left on our 9-hour journey to our Greek family-filled trip to Boston on Christmas Eve, I cooked a fancy little dinner for the hubby and me. We decided to celebrate together early, since we wouldn't be alone for much of the trip ahead. I made this amazing Kale Gratin, North Dakota potatoes (need to share this receipt with you sometime), roasted beets, french bread, and baked goat cheese. We opened presents afterwards and watched Elf to finish off the night.

The next day, we traveled up to Boston via car. Boy is that a drive. Once we arrived, we were greeted with great food, too much wine, and lots of family time. We visited a local winery, brunched at the Wayside Inn, explored the Harvard area, and watched Love Actually. Twice. 

Although I'm terribly sad the holidays are just about over, I'm also a bit relieved. This year I was quite the grinch. Maybe it was about resenting the pressure that's put on all of us to look just right, decorate just right and buy just the right gifts this year. Maybe I was broken hearted that my sister had to work over the holidays instead of being with her big sister, just like old times. Maybe I was upset with the lack of resolution from Serial's last episode. Maybe the winter blues are setting in early. Did anyone else feel this way?

Vacation Snaps

Last week was really our first vacation of the year. We flew down to Florida, where my Papou has a condo and relaxed ALL WEEK. I had all these grand plans of doing tons of outfits posts (I only shot one, my bad guys) and getting tons of photos edited, but ended up spending all week swimming in the ocean, outlet shopping, reading my kindle (currently 75% of the way through The Goldfinch - so good) and eating tons of awesome food. I loved every moment of it. Below are a few snaps from our trip! Enjoy!

Weekend Snaps

This past weekend, we were invited to hang out with my bro-and-sis-in-law at their parents' lake house on Smith Mountain Lake. To be honest, I'm not a lake girl - I'm a beach girl. But this past weekend might have changed my outlook a bit. You know how you don't realize you need a break until you actually get one? I really needed it. 

We spent our days on the boat, lounging, snacking and wake boarding (literally could not get up to save my life, but I only cried a little haha! No shame in the game.) P.S. that's my hubby down there nailing a huge jump on the water - he's most definitely a lake guy. Big thanks to our family for letting us stay with them - if only more weekends could be just like this...
